The Island

Jul 19 2005 - Michael Bay is the only reason I watched The Island. New THX cinema @ GSC 1Utama had me jumping in my seat again! Hold on for a rough ride.

Can you imagine having a "backup" version of you aka a clone, which you could use to replace that hole-in-the-heart, drink yourself silly and have a replacement liver, why wash your kidneys when you can get new ones!! Hm.. pretty freaky, huh?

Ewan McGregor plays clone Lincoln Six Echo who was conceived in a facility sheltered from the 'outside world'. All clones were made to believe they were rescued from the severely polluted world outside.

However, the clone community has a lottery chance of winning a place in one last remaining unpolluted place named 'The Island'. Is it really all it's made out to be?

Crash boom bang! - Trust Michael Bay with spectacular in-your-face stunts, superbly choreographed car chases, and I love that rocketbike! Daddy, I want that for Christmas! Even the baddie looks good. *drool*

After building up a pretty good storyline, Bay simply lost the plot. Perhaps due to the lack of Bruckheimer in this production? Action-hungry fans stopped all trains of thought and simply enjoyed the ride and the popcorn :P

I didn't recognise Ewan McGregor without his nice blonde locks. And can Scarlett Johansson's eyes get any dreamier? Such a babe!

You gotta hand it to Steve Buscemi, time and time again for the role he plays. No matter how small a role, he always shines, and he even goes out in style! haha..

I know you know I'd say..

  • Tom Cruise should've played Lincoln Six Echo instead! yum!
  • A little bit more humour please, not ignorant dumb blonde jokes. sheesh.
