miracle that i finished but more a miracle i had the guts to start. or some would call it madness! :D
went with irizan and ervi,
it was our first trail run for ervi and i. justin joined the entourage as driver and cheerleader. hehe.. only practised long distance running about 4
times before this. only completed 11km twice. was quite worried yet excited about the race, knowing i would suffer during the jungle and hill trails.
felt like a kid on the first day of school. not that i remember my first day at school. haha..
surprisingly i paced 6km of road quite well, with ervi mostly. celebrating every km we passed. amateurs ;) broke away
approaching the jungle trail but fell behind up the never-ending-steep-hill! slipped on the muddy trail and nearly lost balance once. thank goodness the
river they had mentioned, did not have any water. i didn't fancy getting my shoe wet AND muddy.
last 1.5km was sheer mental torture. could hear the crowd at finish line twice yet had to turn the opposite direction!
a real kill to your flagging spirit. not knowing when the end would be, had to conserve energy, up and down the hill. finally hit the last turn and the
thought 'I can eat all the durian I want' drove me to the finish.
And there was irizan n azwar cheering me on! exhilarated! i finished
about 5 minutes before they signalled the end of 2hrs qualifying time for ladies! :)) i got my medal! saw ervi standing a few feet away, smiling from ear to ear
with 2 cups of Milo in hand. i think she finished a few runners ahead of me.
ervi and i now have real proof to our future-grandkids that their gran was indeed mad. :P our next target was the Milo
van. brings back great memories doesn't it? :D
it was all in name of fun, met a lot of new friends. even 'stole' a bottle of water off a guy in front of me during
the jungle trail. ;) learnt his name after the race (out of breath, no breath for greetings)
but today, back at work, quads aching coz first time me climb hill in a long time, way too long! didn't practise
trekking.
don't believe it either, but prior to this race, I've signed up for Adidas-King of the Road on Aug24
w ervi, irizan, evie and ivylui. i don't even like to run, but i think the company helps. :D
