Pilates - Back to Basics
Feb 16 2005 - Breath the correct way and you will be utilising the right core muscles. Muscles you never knew you had, lying under what should be a 6-pack abs. Relax, lie back, and breathe in....
Back to basics - Since taking over the Pilates class from Vincent two weeks ago, Evon has taken us back to basics of Pilates. Breathing, and learning to use the right muscles.

Child's pose |
"Push your tailbone in," I can't even do the child's pose correctly i.e. without sticking my butt out/up. huh... Evon always pushes my posture down. I'll keep trying.
I can't even get my breathing right. Evon taught us to expand your rib cage on inhalation, and imagine centering your rib muscles like a downward triangle, pushing down on your diaphragm.
Sometimes we're just so tensed from the pressures of work and life, we tend to forget to relax and let go, even for a moment.
More work in progress - Hip exercises are very trying. I still haven't mastered using my lower abs muscles to lift my legs, together, straight up and past my head, while lying on my back. It's always easy when you engage your arm muscles and swing your legs.

My favourite pose |
I have this strange believe I'll be good at this someday.
I was so relaxed after the class, I was too lazy to workout (I was also late for Body Pump) and promptly went home. bah.
