Awakening

Oct 06 2005 - Up a notch to 10.5hrs of fasting today, I'm slowly getting there! Gonna be a short but torturous round of only weight training today. Can I take it?

Biceps, Triceps and Legs
Right, got it. Did a quick 5 minute warm-up and stretching, and I was good to go.

Incline Bicep Curl - 10lbs, 3 reps of 10s, alternate hands
My left arm was screaming after the 6th curl, 1st rep. It just could not lift. I could cheat by using momentum, but would mean I'm not doin the full range of motion either. I pulled through but I can't feel my arms no more.

Seated Bicep Curl - with bar(10lbs) +5lb plate each side, 3 reps of 12s
Felt my lower back begin to strain as I struggled to stabilize. Right arm is obviously stronger than the left so the bar tends to shake on the way up. Should slow down and learn to control. Man, my forearm is killing me. Sttrreeeeetcccchhhh!

Tricep Pulldown (machine) - 7.5kg, 3 reps of 12s
Set arms bent at 90 degress, hang on to the rope and pull downwards, keeping elbows close to the body. Not as easy as it sounds!

Tricep Bench Dips - 5kg plate on thighs
Dips may be easy for me, but maintaining form is not. Keep body close to the bench!

Lunges - Horizontal Bar (machine)
5kg plate each side - Weight's very light for me, but I was trying to perfect my technique. Apparently, I tend to twist my pelvis, swinging my weight to the standing leg. I know, it's called cheating :P So I slowed it down, and tried to get my form right. Boy, it was much tougher on the back leg when doing it right !


Incline Loaded Squat (machine) - no weight
No weight's not easy. Was trying to achieve full range since I'm not used to the machine.

Upper, Lower Abs, Obliques - kill me now! Though I'm not as tired as I expected to be. Hm...


You MUST do 1 hr cardio, at a lower intensity

Awakening - How many times have I been told this directly to my face? Yet today I felt the reason behind it slighted to me. Got slapped in the face, and hope this slap lasts to keep my focus and determination going.

10km = 55mins - Big target. It's not about the speed. I know I need to lose weight to achieve this. I know I need to run at maximum determination. I know I can last a 10km run under 70mins (usual KL race route) without training, but that's not the point.

Gotta rework my workout and force in 3 sessions of 1hr cardio. You're most welcome to drag me out of my comfort zone and into a long run/hike/swim with you. If you lend me a bike, I'd bike too. :D Looks like I'll be a familiar face in RPM / Spinning, Step classes from now on. Short attention span does not help.


Mistake! - Had an orange at the end of breakfast before starting to fast. The whole day my stomach was growling! Note to self.. Did not crave water as badly as the first day.. and sushi ain't the way to break fast either :P Maybe just not at Sushi King. Where's Genki when I need it? :( That's the only haunt missing at my 2nd home.
