May 27 2004 - As of today, my fate is sealed. I've just signed up for a localised version of Body Challenge(BC) at my gym. What do I want out of this? Good question, the grand prize of a trip to Bali sounds good though, with an 'initial investment' of RM50. ;)
Commencing June 7 2004, this challenge will run for 12 weeks, ending August 29th. I've this vivid image of a hamster running the wheel for the 12 weeks straight! But that's just me.. ;-)
Sabotage or strategy? - And already I'm strategizing hehe.. think Bali. haha..
Tip to self: Fatten up like a christmas turkey before the challenge, retain lots of water so you'll be panting for breath at every stage of the initial assesment, haha.. BUT you'll also have to be at your prime aka current pre-gorging state at the final assesment.
HOPEFULLY, everything goes your way, you 'lose' weight/mass/whatever, score in the physical tests and wooHoo.. you're on the way to Bali!
WARNING: Do not try this at home. :O Sounds good, I've already lost my mind, so I've got to weigh a few kilos lighter.. or NOT! :P
I still wonder why I took up this challenge.. Probably coz I know I've (and probably never will) never stuck to a designed work-out program, due to my ever-shortening attention span. Tis adrenaline junkie just can't sit still! So sticking to a program will be my main challenge, losing mass/weight would be my next surmountable challenge! I definitely do not lose weight easily.
In any case, it'll be interesting.. will post updates here if and when the challenge takes off. Wish me luck!
FYI...
Mechanics :-
1. Results are rated on the greatest overall percentage improvements with respect to all fitness assesments.
...
7. Female participants are to wear the following for each assessment
- Crop top
- Singled top
- Tights ???? Oh no... never donned one in my entire (albeit short) life.. sigh.. :(
- Gym shoes when required
...
9. The following are the measurements that will be conducted for the first & final assesments.
- Medical screening questionnaire
- Height, Weight, BMI, Waist & Hip Measurement, Waist to hip ratio, Body fat measurement (Every fortnight) The word 'lab rat' comes to mind.. :P
- Cardio-respiratory assessment (Step test)
- Strength assessment (stage abdominal strength test & push-up test)
- Flexibility test (sit & reach)
10. Participants will receive 2 complimentary consultations with the gym's nutritionist.
My Favourite Rule - Rule #3 states "Any attempt to bribe or reward any gym staff to alter any kind of measurements during the course of BC will be immediately disqualified.".. Man, they thought of everything didn't they.. as if I would've attempted that... hm.. ;-)
Media??? - I nearly let this be my excuse for not entering this challenge, coz Rule 4 & 5 states photos taken will be displayed in the BC area AND may also be used in advertisement in the media! :( Will I also be responsible for the pychological damage and possible heart attacks the public may suffer from having to view such hideous images?? :-(
